Tinted moisturizers and foundations can be used for similar purposes but there are a few key differences:
- Foundations provide heavier coverage. Foundations are in the color cosmetics category and are designed to have heavy pigments to cover up your imperfections.
- Tinted moisturizers are moisturizers with pigment. They generally offer a much lighter coverage. Since they are moisturizers, they usually contain humectants and other hydrating ingredients. While tinted moisturizers can even out your complexion, they generally cannot offer the full coverage that foundations can.
Of course many foundations are now formulated with hydrating ingredients so these two categories are being blurred more and more. Hope this helps!
